Lana Parrilla on “Once Upon a Time”
Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz made no mistake when they cast Lana Parrilla as the Evil Queen on ABC's “Once Upon a Time." The Sunday night hit show, currently on its second season, follows a series of fairytale characters who have been transported to the "real world" by a powerful curse conjured up by the Evil Queen herself.
During a recent interview, Parrilla said that she isn’t hired for roles based on her being a Latina, but many of her characters end up being Latina because she is portraying them.
I can definitely detect some very Hispanic traits in the Evil Queen!
Hey, senor. How about some historical films. Of Aztec rise, later gauchopine, Fra Hidalgo and lots
stuff about your heritage and ancestry. Forget the shoot em up crap and definitely avoid racist themes. We're about sick of Hollywood's evil queens and sadism/torture. Rise above it. You have
a goldmine of history. Share it. Maybe some big ones about the revolutions, and more individual life
of some plain compacino and his life struggles. Hollywood makes movies based on a writers book.
Look to your books. Man from La Mancha would be great.
